GreenPath is a non-profit sustainability certification organization dedicated to transforming the tourism industry for the better. Born from a passion for ethical travel and built on a foundation of academic research and field experience, GreenPath was founded by professionals with a deep background in tourism, sustainability, and environmental responsibility.
We believe that tourism, when managed consciously, can be a force for regeneration, education, and cultural respect—not destruction.
Our goal is simple: to help tourism and travel providers become responsible stewards of the planet—and empower travelers to choose better.
To guide the tourism industry on a path toward sustainability by offering transparent, reliable certification, education, and accountability tools. We support businesses, institutions, and travelers who are committed to reducing their environmental impact, respecting local communities, and protecting ecosystems.
At GreenPath, we aim to:
We provide certification programs, education, and consulting for the tourism sector in three key groups:
We offer tiered certification for those reducing emissions, working with local communities, and integrating slow, responsible travel into their services.
We assess and certify hotels, lodges, and guesthouses across key sustainability criteria like waste management, water and energy use, EV support, and eco-friendly infrastructure.
We provide consultation, certification, and partnerships to help national or local authorities lead sustainable tourism policies, infrastructure, and education.
All certified members receive badges, marketing support, and access to our improvement tools and community.
At GreenPath, we believe that accountability is essential. That’s why we’ve created Green Watch—a public, anonymous reporting channel where travelers, employees, and community members can submit concerns about harmful or unethical practices in the tourism industry.
Is a tour company exploiting wildlife?
Is a hotel dumping waste or greenwashing their practices?
Is a local site being destroyed by overtourism or mismanagement?
Let us know—anonymously or with your contact info—and we’ll investigate.
We collaborate with local experts, NGOs, and media when necessary to drive change.
